Use the information literacy process at http://www.curriculumsupport.education.nsw.gov.au/schoollibraries/teachingideas/isp/index.htm or more detailed one at http://500hats.edublogs.org/information-literacy-process/ to decide which area you should focus on with your units of study rather than trying to do it all in every unit. So, you might have one unit where the focus is posing questions; another unit where the focus is on locating resources and selecting information from them; another where students look at the author's purpose so they can evaluate and interpret information and so on.
As you teach other subjects like maths, refer to the information literacy process as a scaffold by asking questions like "What do we already know? What do we need to find out? What information do we already have? etc.
